My name is Savannah Talbot, I am originally from Crested Butte, Colorado. I am currently a licensed and certified Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 2022 I attended Ball State University where I completed a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with certificates in ABA and Autism. I completed 1,500 hours of concentrated supervised fieldwork at the Carmen B Pingree Autism Center for Learning providing feedback to supervisees, completing assessments (VBMAPP and AFLS), creating and implementing treatment plans, providing parent training and center wide trainings on ABA principles. Working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder has given me a chance to expand my knowledge and experience in the health care field. Since working at Carmen B. Pingree I have held positions as an Assistant Behavior Specialist, a Behavior Specialist, a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and the Registered Behavior Technician Team Lead. For my undergraduate degree I graduated in May 2019 from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in Recreational Therapy and a minor in Spanish. I chose a degree in Recreational Therapy because I have been inspired from volunteering and course work throughout my four years at university. For over 9 years I have volunteered at non-profit organizations that assist people of all abilities in participating in outdoor activities such as skiing, horseback riding, climbing and more. Before starting my current job, I completed my internship at the National Ability Center where they offer camps and adaptive recreation programs. This was an amazing experience to gain even more knowledge in the field of adaptive sports where I completed course work in relation to the field and provided quality programs to clients. Recently I took a career change to see a different side of Recreational Therapy in behavioral health. Although I am not currently working as a Recreation Therapist I continually advocate for the profession, I sit on the execute board of the Utah Recreation Therapy Association, and attend annual conferences. Recreational Therapy has given me the ability to work with people of all abilities in different settings.
